A Free Tele-Conference Interview with Power of Words Workshop Presenters, Followed by a Poetry Open Mic!

Moderated by Kelly DuMar

We hope you’ll join us in this video conference preview of POW 2016 workshops! (You can join online or by phone). Kelly DuMar, membership chair of TLAN, will interview POW workshop leaders who are available for the call to “preview” their upcoming workshops for the Power of Words Conference in August.

Whether you’re already registered for POW in August, or you’re wondering if you should – this is your chance to freely sample some of the wonderful workshops we have in store for you. Workshop leaders will share what they’re presenting and how you will benefit from their unique Transformative Language Arts approach. Presenters include:

  • Doug Lipman, “The Values of the Future Through Storytelling: A Hands-On Workshop”
  • Christopher D. Sims, "If Black Lives Mattered"
  • Marguerite Walker, "Self expression Through Movement and Play”
  • Kelly DuMar, “Writing Truth & Beauty – Using Personal Photos for Creative Inspiration & Healing”
  • Teri Lynn Grunthaner, "Coming Back to Life: Practicing the Work that Reconnects"
  • Katey Branch, "Connect to the Earth and Dance your Heart, Body and Soul AWAKE!"
  • Rachel Hom & Rebecca Hom, "TWENTYSIXSIXTYTWO: Life From Two Directions - Conversation and the 'beginner mind'"

Poetry Open Mic

And there’s more to share. Bring an original poem! This unique discussion and networking opportunity will be followed by a Poetry Open Mic. Everyone who participates in the teleconference is welcome to share an original poem. Whether you’re reading your poetry aloud for the first time, or you’re a seasoned reader, this is a chance to share your writing in the supportive presence of appreciative listeners. It’s a remarkably fun and moving experience.

Format of the Meeting

  • Kelly will interview workshop presenters on the call for 30 minutes about their POW workshops.

  • We'll then have 10-15 minutes to ask questions and discuss TLA, your own practice, goals, or vision.

  • We’ll devote the next 15 or so minutes to the open mic poetry readings.

  • You don’t need to be a member of TLAN to participate!
