We will be meeting at: Unity Village Retreat Centerin Unity Village, MO Unity Village is located in the southeast corner of the Kansas City metro area with shuttle service available to Kansas City International Airport (plus arrangements available for the Amtrak station). This retreat center, just 15 miles from downtown Kansas City, is in the middle of 1,200 woods acres and features the largest fountain display in the area and award-winning rose gardens and historic buildings with distinctive Mediterranean architecture. The Unity Village Hotel is one of the first green hotels in the U.S. There's also an onsite bookstore and a coffee shop.

Lodging Options
Unity Village Hotel
The award-winning Unity Village Hotel, one of the first green hotels in the U.S., has comfortable and affordable accommodations. We have a block of rooms reserved for participants for $134/night, each room with two queen-sized beds (if you wish to find a roommate, we will post a roommate-finding Google Doc in the coming months).
Rooms are available for Thurs., Sept. 26 through Sun., Sept. 29, but you can reserve for whatever nights you need. A full hot breakfast is included.
To reserve your room, call the Unity Village Hotel at 816/347-5537 and say you are registering for the TLA (or Transformative Language Arts) conference.

If you plan to arrive Thursday evening for the pre-conference events and workshops, you'll want to reserve a room for three nights, Thurs., 9/26 - Sun., 9/29.

If you are only attending the conference itself, you can reserve a room for Fri., 9/27 - Sun., 9/29.

Meals: A Taste of Kansas City
We are pleased to present a taste of Kansas City through our delicious, healthy, and bountiful meals featuring regional delights, including famous Kansas City BBQ and an authentic Italian meal. All meals will include vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The Unity Village Hotel provides a hot breakfast for all conference-goers each morning. Lunches and dinners will be provided by local restaurants and caterers in the lovely Unity Village banquet room. Additionally, we will have ample and healthy snacks throughout the conference.

Travel Options
Kansas City International Airport is 37 miles from Unity Village. We recommend renting a car, taking a shuttle, or hiring a car service.
We recommend B.A.T.S (Better Alternative Transportation Services). They can be reached at 913-634-5484, 913-575-3185, or reservations@kcibats.com. Uber and taxi service exists in the Unity Village area, but availability is spotty, especially on weekdays, and wait times can be long.
Later this spring, TLAN will provide conference registrants with a ride board for ride-sharing from the airport or from other areas in the region.
