What Transformative Language Arts Practitioners Do
A lot when it comes to helping people and communities find, amplify, and use their voice and vision to make the world better. Here's some examples:
We help isolated teens find the strength to believe in themselves and go on through the power of theater and music projects.
We lead workshops for people living with chronic illness to write their way out of loneliness and into greater community and resilience.
We facilitate storytelling circles for people of color, the queer community, and people living with disabilities to reclaim their life stories and find new ways to belong and make a difference.
We bring together people across religious and political divides to witness how much we have in common and find civil ways to talk about our differences.
We collaborate with elders to make meaning out of their lives and leave behind a legacy through their life stories.
Since 2005, we have provided education, training, mentorship, and community-building for all who use the spoken, written, and sung word for change, growth, and freedom. Please help us spread our wings and reach more people whose stories matter.
This year, our fundraising goal is $12,000, and we've already raised over $8,000. We have a matching grant of $3,000 from a generous donor. We appreciate whatever you can give.
“I give to the TLA Network because I believe so much in the power of language that comes from giving voice to diverse communities. As someone who grew up in India, made home in America, and traveled the world extensively, I know first-hand how important it is to bring many voices to the table and learn to listen to each other’s stories.” ~ Ravi Bhaskar, engineer, entrepreneur, and writer | "I give to the TLA Network because it offers deeply healing and empowering classes and the work they do is fundamentally important for individual and collective growth." ~ Suzanne Adams, writer, MA in TLA |
Thanks to the loving support of people like you, we have:
Join us in contributing to TLAN as we kick off our 20th year in supporting people who use writing, storytelling, theater, music, and other arts for community, meaning, and change. Our goal is to raise $12,000 by the end of 2024 (we're already raised over half) for program development, growing our reach, and conference and class scholarships. Please give what you can to help us meet a $3,000 matching grant challenge. No amount you give is too small to make a difference. Let's lift up our stories together. |
